Join us in flying the flag for dystonia communities around the world
100,000 people in the UK, and many more worldwide, are affected by dystonia yet the condition remains largely unknown to the general public. That’s why this summer and through to the end of September, we’re challenging everyone to take on 100 miles (or 1,000 minutes of activity) in support of the dystonia community around the world while raising global awareness of the condition.
We are walking and cycling, painting and drawing, reading and writing, swimming and hooping, dancing and singing, cooking and baking, gardening and growing, creating and crafting. We are asking everyone to get involved and together, we will take dystonia awareness 25,000 miles around the world.

What is the Dystonia Around the World Challenge?
It’s a virtual challenge where we all complete 100 miles (or 1,000 minutes) of activity between now and 30th September 2020 to collectively cover the ‘round the world and back’ distance from Dystonia UK’s HQ and raise global awareness of the dystonia condition. Throughout the challenge you can complete your miles on foot or on wheels, in the pool or on the stairs and get your minutes in from baking, crafting or many other activities as long as you record your progress on your online fundraising page and use your challenge to raise awareness of dystonia.
What type of challenge can I do?
We want to make sure everyone of all abilities and interests can get involved in #DystoniaAroundTheWorld so we encourage you to be as creative as possible. You can walk, run, cycle, swim, climb stairs, do sit-ups, paint, hold cooking classes, do a danceathon, write or more. As long as what you do allows you to achieve your miles or minutes target - the world is your oyster! If you’re struggling to come up with the right challenge, please do get in touch with firstname.lastname@example.org for some ideas and inspiration or to request a fundraising pack. We’d love to help!
How much should I fundraise?
We’d encourage you to raise £250 or more to reach the overall target of £25,000 for the campaign. There is plenty of time and a lot of tips available on our resources page to help you in your fundraising journey. All the money you raise will go towards supporting people living with dystonia in the UK and raising worldwide awareness of the condition.
