Thanks for visiting my profile. This year, I am taking on Dystonia UK's epic #DystoniaAroundTheWorld challenge to raise awareness and funds for my charity! My name is Tully Kearney. I’m a GB para swimmer, seven times World Champion and Proud Patron of Dystonia UK. Dystonia is a Neurological movement disorder which is a very poorly understood, debilitating and live changing condition and sufferers often have to wait for extended periods for diagnosis, often being mid-diagnosed with other conditions along the way. There is no cure for this condition and treatments are currently limited. I myself was finally diagnosed with Generalised Dystonia when I was 16 years old, although my symptoms first started when I was 13. My condition has progressed rapidly and has affected all aspects of my life. I am now a full-time wheelchair user. I want to give back to Dystonia UK, the only national charity providing support, advocacy and information for anyone affected by this condition, as without their help I don’t know how I would have coped. This great charity need ongoing financial support to continued to provide the vital services the offer so I decided I’d have a go at this challenge with my normal training and see how far I can get!
I will be taking part in various activities such as swimming, racerunning and core strength sessions to build up as many miles as I can to power the virtual trip from Dystonia UK's HQ in London around the world and back.
Help me put dystonia on the world map and change the lives of people who often feel alone and forgotten by taking on the #DystoniaAroundTheWorld challenge yourself or donating to my fundraising page.
Thank you so much for your support!
